About La Placita
La Placita on East Grand is a collection of newly developed and older renovated commercial buildings on the north side of East Grand, between 15th and 16th Street.
La Placita includes six different buildings with shared parking, and has approximately 20 commercial tenants with apartments on the second floor of one of the buildings.
La Placita has been redeveloped in the American southwest architectural style. It currently hosts several restaurants, a grocery store, a bakery, as well as a host of other businesses.
The center is currently undergoing improvements which will include a mural, painted by Iowa Artist John Neal.
After earning a Master’s Degree in painting from Drake University in Des Moines, John spent 11 years painting billboards. John has been painting for over 30 years, doing a variety of things from illustration to murals. He can paint anything! Please view his portfolio pages to see the depth of skill and experience that he can bring to the project you have in mind. John Neal has helped to develop a unique work of art for La Placita!
